The Catalyst: Art, Modesty, and Empowerment
Our founder, Rasha Moataz, has always had an artist's eye. With a natural talent for painting and an intuitive grasp of color theory, her personal styling choices constantly drew compliments from friends and strangers alike.
As a woman who proudly wears a hijab, Rasha realized something vital: modesty should never be a limitation to feeling and looking your absolute best. She wanted to prove that elegance, modesty, and luxury can exist in perfect harmony. Siwar Gallery was born from her desire to share this artistic talent with other women, providing them with the accessories they need to feel empowered, confident, and beautiful every single day.
A Global Tapestry of Inspiration
The aesthetic of Siwar Gallery is deeply influenced by a rich, cross-cultural journey. Born and raised in Egypt, Rasha's eye for design was shaped by ancient history and intricate artistry. She later spent three years living in the UAE—a vibrant melting pot where she was exposed to tastes, colors, and aesthetics from every corner of the world.
Today, Rasha calls Canada home. This journey—from the historic beauty of Egypt, to the dense global diversity of the UAE, to the vast, welcoming landscapes of Canada—infuses every piece in our collection with a unique, worldly elegance.
What Does "Siwar" Mean?
Siwar is an Arabic word that translates simply to "bracelet." But for us, it holds a much deeper resonance. There is a melodic music to the word; when you hear it, it evokes the imagery of a delicate, ornate bracelet worn by a princess in an old Arabic tale. It is a name that honors heritage while embracing modern luxury.
From an Idea to a Community
What started as a personal passion has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined. Since our launch in Calgary, we have had the immense privilege of meeting so many of you face-to-face at local markets and events.
